Cargo truck sinks into recently repaired Chetumal roadway

Chetumal, Q.R. — A cargo truck traveling along a central Chetumal roadway required tow truck assistance after a front tire suddenly fell through the asphalt.

The cargo truck, which was loaded with soft drinks, abruptly became immobilized after a front tire sank into a soft spot along the road. The mishap was noted at a crossing in the Payo Obispo neighborhood, where the roadway work was recently repaired by Comisión de Obras Públicas y Alcantarillado (CAPA).

It is the same area where in July of this year, three CAPA workers died after falling into the excavation and being exposed to accumulated gases.

Reports say neighbors had already complained about the poor quality of the material used to make the repairs, noting that during the last bout of rain, the roadway became visually weakened.
