Cancun woman killed in targeted attack likely meant for Sinaloa boyfriend

Cancun, Q.R. — A woman was killed in a targeted shooting believed meant for her boyfriend. On Saturday, 911 sent police to SM 514 of Cancun after reports of gunfire toward a parked car.

At the scene, Cancun officers found two adults inside the vehicle, both of whom, had been shot. The woman, identified as 29-year-old SYLP, was pronounced dead on scene by responding paramedics.

The man, who was also hit, has identified himself as 37-year-old SAO, a professional boxer from the state of Sinaloa. He received a bullet to his right leg. The red car was parked outside a commercial area at 3:07 p.m. when it was targeted.

According to the Quintana Roo Homicide Specialized Prosecutor’s Office, six Águila 9 millimeter casings were found at the scene. Authorities have said that security camera footage of the shooting will be used to help in their investigation.
