Cancun suspect captured for extortion after sending victim bullets and demand for 4 million

Cancun, Q. R. — Cancun police have captured a suspect accused of attempting to extort a city man for four million pesos. On Monday, José Antonio “N” was arrested for the November 7, 2023 extortion attempt against a city business owner.

In a statement, the State Attorney General (FGE) said that José Antonio “N” is alleged to have sent a series of message to the victim requesting four million pesos that he would pay “if he valued his life”.

The message also detailed where the cash was to be sent. “Days later José Antonio “N” sent a woman to the victim’s company to deliver an envelope that contained a sheet of paper in which he sent her a “little gift,” warning her that the next one was for his family. The envelope contained two cartridges of different calibers,” the FGE reported.

“As a result of investigations, it was learned that the accused would be in the Commercial Courts of Cancun, so Investigative Police agents were stationed outside the property and when they saw José Antonio “N”, they approached and informed him that he had an arrest warrant for his probable participation in events that could constitute the crime of extortion.”
