Cancun man target in deadly city attack

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun man was the target of a deadly shooting Tuesday in SM 307. The unidentified man was getting out of his truck around 8:00 a.m. when he was approached by a gunman who shot him.

The shooting happened in the troubled suburb of Alfredo V. Bonfil, an area that was once its own town. The man of approximately 40 was shot by one of two people who witnesses said arrived on a motorcycle.

The injured man was left laying partially on the street. Paramedics arrived only to pronounce him on scene.

Alfredo V. Bonfil is the same place where police recently found five bodies stuffed inside a water cistern and the remains of three others in a wooded area during a search. The area, which has become a suburb of the city of Cancun due to population growth, has experienced an increase in crime.
