Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun driver totaled his car Saturday morning after driving it into the concrete base of a metal pole then flipping. The car was located by Cancun Transit authorities on its roof in the middle of a section of Huayacán Avenue.
Hovering above the overturned car was the metal city light pole that broke at its base. Transit Police attended to the report of the accident in SM 336 shorty after 8:00 a.m. The driver was injured and transferred to hospital where he was reported to be stable.
Police say a combination of rain and speed were likely factors in the inner city accident. The driver is being charged for the cost of repairing the city property.
