Cancun, Q.R. — Thieves after cash left a Cancun bank manager with a gunshot wound to his leg. The manager of the bank left the building with a bag of money at 12:20 p.m. Monday when he was approached by two men who tried to steal the bag.
During the struggle outside the Bonampak Avenue bank, the 45-year-old manager was shot in the leg. The thieves hopped on a motorcycle and fled SM 7 where the assault took place.
The injured bank manager took refuge in his red Mazda, which was parked in front of the bank, while waiting for help. Responding officers to the report of the robbery began a search for the bike however, police lost track of it in SM 44.
An ambulance arrived and transferred the bank manager to IMSS for medical treatment. Detectives arrived to begin an investigation. Three shell casings were lifted from the scene. A tow truck was called to remove the victim’s vehicle as evidence. Police have not verified if the thieves were successful in making off with the cash they came for.
