Cozumel, Q.R. — The body of an American man has been recovered off the west central coast of Cozumel. On Thursday, his body was reportedly seen by area residents along the south coast.
A first search for the floating body revealed nothing, however, another search in a different area was when authorities finally located the man. Elements of the Navy recovered the body along the central west side of the island Thursday afternoon.
The body was dragged by currents and finally located after three separate reported sightings. The State Attorney General’s Office arrived to take over the case after the body was returned to shore.
The deceased man has been identified as 45-year-old Aaron “B” from Texas. He was with friends when he entered the sea and failed to return. He is believed to have died by drowning. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
