Authorities destroy 11 armored vehicles seized in confrontations with criminal organizations

Reynosa, Tamaulipas — On Saturday, 11 armored monster vehicles seized by police were destroyed at a base in Tamaulipas. According to the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic (FGR), the vehicles were destroyed in compliance with Mexico’s Destination Program for Assets and Objects of Crime, which provides for the destruction of objects that are instruments of crime.

The 11 armoured vehicles were destroyed by the Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR) in its Tamaulipas Delegation. The federal agency reported that the 11 seized vehicles were related to nine criminal cases.

The armored vehicles, which are referred to as monster vehicles, are outfitted with handmade armor and are more times than not, used by criminal organizations.

The 11 that were destroyed Saturday were seized by police in various confrontations with criminal groups in Nuevo Laredo.
