Cozumel, Q.R. — It will likely be another three months before Xcaret begins operating its Cozumel route. The company says they continue to wait for two smaller vessels to arrive, which is taking time.
Carlos Constance Madrazo, vice president of Grupo Xcaret, said they will begin to operate from Cozumel to their seaside theme parks once the boats arrive in two to three months. Currently, the company operates two 650-passenger vessels from Isla Mujeres to its Torre Escénica del Embarcadero at the start of the Cancun Hotel Zone.
In December of last year, the company was given authorization to berth on the island. Since then, Grupo Xcaret has been given approval to run its two vessels from Cozumel to the mainland.
