Trio arrested by Playa del Carmen police found with lengthy criminal records

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two of the three men recently arrested by police in the municipality of Solidaridad have turned out to have lengthy criminal records that date back to 2010.

Three men were recently taken into police custody by elements of the municipality of Solidaridad. After running their names through the criminal registry, Plataforma México, police discovered two of the men had dated criminal histories that ran through various parts of Quintana Roo and Mérida, Yucatan.

All three were transferred to facilities in Cancun and presented before la Fiscalía General de la Republica (FGR) to answer for crimes including violent robberies, drug trafficking and home invasions.

In a statement, la Fiscalía General de la Republica reported that they will be held for illegal possession of a firearm, while also facing pending charges before the state.

The detainees were identified as 32-year-old Lauris C.J. from Alvarado, Veracruz, 24-year-old Carlos D.A.O. from Cancun and 23-year-old Edier A.S.O. from Yucatan. Police report that Lauris C.J. had a criminal record for numerous charges including a 2012 Cancun robbery, drug charges from 2009 and home invasion in Campeche in 2017.

Edier A.S.O. also had a long criminal record that included theft and violent robberies, alcohol-related offenses and drug charges in both Cancun and Mérida dating back to 2010.

Although Carlos D.A.O. had no previous criminal record in Plataforma México, he was arrested for carrying an AR-15 firearm. All three held Cancun home addresses.
