Three escape with only minor injuries in Riviera Maya highway rollover

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Emergency personnel were called to the scene of a single vehicle rollover Wednesday night. A private car with one woman and two children overturned on the federal highway south of Playa del Carmen.

Municipal firemen responded to the 9:00 p.m. reports made by motorists of the Riviera Maya highway accident. Police arrived at the scene to find those inside trapped.

Playa del Carmen firemen were brought in to cut open the car’s doors using the jaws of life. The car was found rolled onto its side approximately 20 kilometers south of Playa del Carmen near the entrance to the Paamul beach area.

Once freed, all three were reported found with only minor injuries but were transferred to Playa del Carmen hospital for a medical evaluation.

PDC firemen used the jaws of life to cut open the car’s doors.

Highway traffic was slowed Wednesday night with the arrival of emergency services and eventually, a tow truck.

National Guard Highways took charge of the scene, staying behind to have the demolished car towed to the impound.

The female driver is reported to have rolled the car after two tires left the highway and drove into the soft shoulder gravel.
