Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — State authorities continue to attend to the situation of the discovery of more than two dozen people floating off Isla Mujeres. On Monday, the Navy of Mexico was alerted to the sighting of a makeshift vessel carrying a large group of people in Quintana Roo waters.
Personnel from the Navy of Mexico headed out to sea in search of the small boat, locating it approximately 10 nautical miles (18.5 kilometers) north of Isla Mujeres. On board, Navy personnel removed 23 men and seven women, transferring them onto two of their vessels.
The boats with the 30 foreigners on board were transferred to the Naval Station of Puerto Juárez where they were received by authorities of the National Institute of Migration (INM).
