Chetumal, Q.R. — Staff of a Chetumal auto dealership requested assistance after the building’s roof collapsed. Employees inside the dealership showroom scrambled for cover Monday as the ceiling caved in.
State Civil Protection were at the Álvaro Obregón Avenue location in response to an emergency 9-1-1 report made by employees. Inside the showroom, officials found pieces of sheet metal and rebar that gave way and landed on the new vehicles below.
Pieces that failed to break free entirely were found dangling from the metal ceiling of the tall building. The dealership’s building and cars suffered extensive damage, however, there were no reported injuries.
State Coordination of Civil Protection personnel have since closed the building while they investigate the cause of the collapse.
