Cancun, Q.R. — Two men and one woman who faked interest in buying a used cell phone were arrested for attempted kidnapping. All three were taken into custody by Cancun police after the victim reported the event to 9-1-1.
The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. outside a convenience store where the man, who had advertised a cell phone for sale, met the interested buyers. During their meeting, they grabbed him and tried to force him into a black SUV, however, he was able to escape. He ran home and called police.
Municipal officers met the victim at his home while state officers went to the convenience store. The young victim told police from his home that he posted a cell phone for sale on social media and was contacted by the interested buyers.
They agreed to meet at a convenience store on Chac Mool Avenue in SM 249 that night. Upon arriving, the three people from inside the SUV tried to force him into their truck, but he managed to break free and escape.
Municipal police officers returned him to the scene where State Police officers had already detained the three suspects.

At the scene, the young man identified them as the individuals who had attempted to kidnap him moments earlier.
