Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Three people were treated for minor injuries Sunday after part of a restaurant floor collapsed. Island medical personnel were called to the theme park early Sunday afternoon to tend to at least three people who suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics arrived and treated the injured, two of whom were transferred to island hospital for additional medical attention. One of the transferred is reported to have suffered fractured ribs.
Civil Protection and Municipal Police were part of the initial response team after reports of the collapsed section of restaurant floor.
According to available information, a several meter section of the restaurant’s floor gave way under the weight of furniture and patrons. It is not known exactly why the floor opened.
Isla Mujeres authorities shut the area while they investigate.
