Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The General Directorate of Citizen Security carried out operations in various points of the Island and Continental Zone Thursday. Authorities say the constant effort has as its primary objective to strengthen the security and well-being of island families and visitors to the Island.

In the Insular Zone, the actions are concentrated in main accesses and high-traffic tourist areas such as Playa Norte and Playa Centro, as well as tours in different neighborhoods.
In the Continental Zone, the aim is to strengthen surveillance at the accesses through the booths and in the neighborhoods in addition to areas identified as priority.
The operation has the active participation of the General Directorate of Citizen Security, National Guard and the Public Security Secretariat of Quintana Roo. Coordinated patrols are carried out and preventive measures are implemented to deter any criminal activity.
Vehicle inspections and identification checks are also being carried out at strategic points. These actions seek to continue increasing the security among citizens and tourists, to reduce crimes in the areas intervened, as well as to strengthen collaboration between the community and security forces.

In a statement, Isla Mujeres authorities reiterated the importance of citizen collaboration in this effort.
