Chetumal, Q.R. — A security guard in Chetumal was physically assaulted Tuesday morning by two armed men. The assault happened around 3:00 a.m. while the guard was making a round of the Municipal Palace of Othón P. Blanco. The assailants reportedly knocked him out and stole his weapon.
According to the police report, the subjects fled without attempting to enter municipal building. Nothing other than the guard’s weapon was stolen. The downed man was discovered by colleagues who found him unconscious.
Paramedics were called and a search launched for those responsible. The injured man, identified as Celestino N, was able to recount being approached by a woman who had asked about the ATM. While addressing her question, he was struck in the head. He recalled seeing all three, who after his attack, fled in a white Tsuru car.
Nearby security cameras were successful in capturing the event, including images of those responsible.
