Quintana Roo marks a historic milestone by establishing, for the first time, a specialized team for the Search, Location, and Neutralization of Explosive Devices comprised of members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security.
This advancement represents a significant step in strengthening operational and response capabilities in the face of high-risk situations in the state.
The officers successfully completed the specialization courses taught by the Special Operations Unit of the Secretariat of the Navy, which took place from January 19 to April 10, 2026.
During eleven weeks of intensive training, the officers acquired knowledge in electronics, chemistry applied to explosive devices, controlled detonations and the destruction of military equipment, as well as protocols for responding to threats related to weapons of mass destruction and acts of terrorism.
“It is worth noting that, unlike other participating institutions, the eight members of the Secretariat of Citizen Security remained fully present throughout the course, distinguishing themselves through their discipline, commitment and professionalism,” they added.

With the formation of this first specialized team in the state, the Secretariat reaffirms its commitment to ongoing training and the strengthening of its police forces for the benefit of the safety and security of the public.
