Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Preventative guards have been placed along Isla Mujeres beaches who are inviting potential beachgoers to return to their homes or hotel. The announcement comes from Ayuntamiento de Isla Mujeres who are reminding people that beaches remain closed as indicated by the state government’s epidemiological light.
Kerem Pinto Aguilar, director of the Federal Terrestrial Maritime Zone (Zofemat) for the municipality, stressed that they are adhering to the state government’s economic recovery plan, which allows the gradual reopening of only specific activities and with a maximum capacity to avoid the spread of coronavirus.
She says that Isla Mujeres beaches will reopen once the epidemiological light turns yellow or green.
“What is sought in the first instance is to preserve life, take care of everyone’s health and recover the state’s economy and, of course, of our families. For this reason, the participation of all is very important. Respect the times, stick to the safety and hygiene protocols that are now everywhere. Only then will we soon leave confinement and be able to carry out our activities with a little more freedom,” explained the official.
She added that the guards and filters along the various beaches have been permanent to avoid crowds and, therefore, the massive spread of Covid-19, reminding people that the beaches remain closed until otherwise stated by the state government.
