Cancun, Q.R. — Angry residents of Superblock 236 and 237 took to city public streets Saturday night after suffering another power outage. For around two hours, residents hovered outside after blocking off a section of Tulum Avenue.
It was around 9:00 a.m. when they experienced their latest power outage that sent them to the streets that evening. Several dozen neighbors demanded stable service from the CFE saying they have had ongoing power issues for weeks.
Residents blocked the street after having filed complaints with the company who has done nothing to resolve the issue. Authorities from the Benito Juárez City Council eventually arrived to talk with the residents as well as CFE.
Cancun Transit Officers also arrived to lift the blockade of rocks and sticks and allow the passage of traffic. It was shortly after 9:00 p.m. when power was restored.
