Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police are investigating the broad daylight murder of a woman inside an Isla Mujeres restaurant. The targeted attack happened Tuesday afternoon when a man posing as a diner entered the restaurant and sat at a table.
Moments afterward, the man took aim at a female employee and shot her several times.
The shooting happened inside a restaurant in Puerto Juárez on mainland Isla Mujeres. The woman was shot at close range several times before the hitman fled.
“The FGE of Quintana Roo began an investigation for the crime of femicide after the death of a woman from gunshot wounds in a restaurant in Supermanzana 85 in the town of Puerto Juárez.
“The first investigations establish that the victim was an employee of the establishment where a diner arrived who occupied a table and minutes later, in a direct attack, he shot the woman and fled.
“In this event, the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Combating the Crime of Femicide maintains a personal line of investigation and carries out the corresponding investigations to find the person responsible for this unfortunate event,” the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said in a statement.
