Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Police have achieved the arrest and subsequent prosecution of Jorge Alberto “N” for extortion. Authorities say Jorge Alberto “N” has been charged with extorting an Isla Mujeres mainland business.
Jorge Alberto “N” was arrested by members of the state’s Centurión Group last month after being reported by the victim. According to police, the victim identified Jorge Alberto “N” as the person who demanded $450 USD per week.
“The victim has identified Jorge Alberto “N” as the person who went to the business accompanied by two individuals carrying firearms, presented himself as a member of a criminal group and demanded $450 USD a week as payment for “floor rights”. If he refused, he threatened to kill him,” police reported in a statement.

“Following the complaint, officers from the Prosecutor’s Office and the Centurión Group carried out an operation at an establishment located on José López Portillo Avenue where the suspect was arrested in flagrante delicto when he went to collect the extortion money,” they said.
During his arrest, agents seized marijuana, a handgun, two assault rifle magazines and a yellow envelope containing $450.
