Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — A Playa del Carmen taxi driver has been killed in a highway accident in the municipality of Puerto Morelos. The accident happened early Sunday near Croco Cun.
According to early information, the driver of the taxi slammed into the back of a parked trailer that was on the highway after breaking down. The highway speed impact destroyed the front end of the cab as it ricocheted off the trailer and into highway vegetation.
Passing motorists reported the accident to municipal transit who arrived to find the driver of the taxi laying dead on the highway. The identity of the taxi driver has not been released.
