Paramedics pronounce Isla Mujeres man after he collapses while out walking

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Passersby called for medical help after seeing a man collapse near an Isla Mujeres sidewalk. The emergency medical report was made early Monday morning after islanders saw the man suddenly collapse in a green area along the west side of the island’s main highway.

It was around 7:30 a.m. when police and paramedics arrived at the scene where the man was found moved onto a sidewalk. Witnesses told police they thought he fainted and tried to help him.

The man was reportedly out for an early morning walk when the incident happened. Paramedics were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead.

His identity has not been released. The man was reported to have been an expat in his 60s. An autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
