Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The construction of a new police station at Punta Sam on the Isla Mujeres mainland is nearing completion. On Wednesday, Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde paid a visit to the nearly-finished building.
She said that the new police station, which is being built on the Punta Sam highway at the entrance to Costa Mujeres, is about to be inaugurated. She said the new station is part of new government’s effort to improve security.
Gómez Ricalde explained that this administration has made an effort to improve the security infrastructure, in addition to working in coordination with the New Citizen Security Model promoted by the Governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama Espinosa.
In addition to the new police booth, two kilometers of that same highway was also recently improved to ensure greater road safety for those who use it.
The Punta Sam police station is one of four — two newly constructed and two revamped — police stations for the municipality. Last week, she inaugurated a newly revamped police station for a mainland neighborhood.
