Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A new plaza being constructed on the Isla Mujeres Continental Zone is around 75 percent complete. On Thursday, Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, toured the Plaza Ejidatarios in the Continental Zone.
Ricalde was on site to verify the work being carried out, which she reported, was approximately 75 percent finished. She said the plaza is part of her administration’s commitment to promote the development of Cuidad Mujeres, which is being built in the Municipal Esplanade in the Continental Zone.
Jaziby Lorie León Márquez, the Director of Tenders for Public Works of Isla Mujeres, said that the finished project will include a civic plaza, walkways, bicycle path and parking lot.
It will also have a cultural center with an amphitheater, flagpole, railings, bathrooms, benches and garden areas. Ricalde said projects such as the new plaza contributes to a more prosperous municipality for local families.
