Chetumal, Q.R. — Police in Chetumal were called to a home after a report of a broad daylight kidnapping Wednesday evening. Neighbors watched as several subjects shot a man before forcing him into a waiting vehicle that sped away.
The incident happened around 6:00 p.m. Wednesday outside a home in the Arboledas 2 subdivision. Neighbors who heard the gunshot and witnessed the kidnapping made the 911 call.
According to their statements, the men were armed with long weapons and had their faces covered in ski masks. They located their target walking along Belize Street which is when they grabbed him and tried to force him into a vehicle.
When he broke free and began to run, one of the armed men shot him in the leg. Neighbors were unable to provide a description of the men or their vehicle.
The kidnapped man has been identified only by his initials, F.L.G.M., a 54-year-old local resident. A police search operation to locate those responsible was unsuccessful.
