Navy responds to medical evacuation request of American cruise ship passenger at Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres, Q. R. — The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico has reported the medical evacuation of an American tourist from a cruise ship due to acute coronary syndrome.

Personnel from the Secretaría de Marina-Armada de México met with cruise ship Norwegian Sun approximately one nautical mile (1.8 kilometers) southeast of Punta Sur of Isla Mujeres after receiving an emergency request for a passenger medical evacuation.

Rescue members departed from the Estación Naval de Búsqueda, Rescate y Vigilancia Marítima (ENSAR) of Isla Mujeres to remove a 74-year-old American ship passenger.

The man was was listed in stable condition while being transferred to the Puerto Juarez Naval Station where a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.
