Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Six men were rescued by the Navy of Mexico Tuesday night in waters north of Isla Mujeres. The Secretary of the Navy reported on the rescue Wednesday that took place approximately 34 miles nautical (62.96 kilometers) north of the island.
A Navy vessel was deployed Tuesday night after they received an emergency call for assistance regarding a stranded fishing vessel due to mechanical failure. The boat was located floating north of Isla Mujeres with all six men on board.
They were transferred to the Navy vessel and their shrimp boat towed back to land. No injuries were reported.
