Military finds cocaine washed up on Cozumel beach

Cozumel, Q.R. — Personnel from the Mexican Army report finding 20 kilos of cocaine scattered among the sargassum along the coast of Cozumel.

The finding was made in the Punta Arrecifes-Castillo Real section where the military were carrying out a surveillance tour. As reported by the Ministry of National Defense, there was a total of 20 kilos of cocaine found in varying package sizes along the beach.

They report that the cocaine was delivered to the Attorney General’s Office. It is only one of several discoveries made over the past few weeks along state beaches. Packages of drugs, specifically cocaine, have been found washed-up on several beaches of Tulum and Puerto Morelos.

Less than a week ago, a plane-load of cocaine was discovered near the town of Bacalar in the south of the state.
