Mexican officials seize 200 kilos of cocaine near Bacalar

Othón P. Blanco, Q.R. — The Ministry of National Defense reports the seizure 200 kilos of cocaine from a fallen plane in the southern portion of the state of Quintana Roo.

In a statement, the Ministry said that on July 28, elements of the Mexican Army were performing air surveillance when the plane was discovered entering national territory. It was found crashed near the town of Rio Verde and was without General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics database registration.

Near the King Air 300 plane, authorities found that 20 large packages of cocaine had been hidden. They also found a bulldozer, a pick up truck, six guns and 300 rounds of ammunition. There were no arrests.

According to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, the drugs have a market value of 47 million peso.
