Gómez Ricalde explained that the 4.5 kilometers paved upfront “was the urgent part however, I aspire to have a great Costa Mujeres Boulevard, so soon, we are going to find the funds to make that happen.”

She said that the road repair will be promoted in the next government, which will be headed by governor-elect Mara Lezama Espinosa, so that the road is able to better serve tourists.

“The general plan is already being discussed with the governor-elect to push the project together at the federal level so that SICT, Fonatur, Sectur can make a significant investment because this is the new hotel zone in the north of Quintana Roo,” she said.

Gómez Ricalde says currently, there are three hotels being built along the Costa Mujeres area of Isla Mujeres mainland that are both national and international investments. She added that at the end of this year, RIU will be the first of those three to open.
