Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The government of Isla Mujeres says elements of the National Guard have begun their permanent deployment along municipal beaches and streets. Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde pointed out that the security forces were deployed by the General Directorate of Public Safety in coordination with the Navy.
Constant surveillance tours around the municipality are made to safeguard the integrity of both locals and visitors. On Saturday, the National Guard began patrolling island beaches and streets. They are also deployed along the beach areas of the Continental Zone at Costa Mujeres.
Ricalde said that a vehicle inspection filter was installed on Avenida Rueda Medina at the height of the Fifth Naval Region. A police dog was also used in the filter.
