Marina transfers cruise ship stroke patient to land

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Another cruise ship passenger has been transferred to a Cancun hospital after an onboard medical emergency. Early Tuesday morning, Mexico’s Marina medical personnel met a ship off Isla Mujeres for an emergency passenger transfer.

In a Navy operation, the ship was met five kilometers northeast of Isla Mujeres to transfer a sick passenger to an ambulance waiting at Puerto Juárez, the Ninth Naval Region reported.

Personnel of the Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) of Isla Mujeres carried out the medical evacuation of the elderly man in response to the medical assistance after the passenger suffered a stroke.

He was transferred by ambulance to a Cancun hospital for medical attention.
