Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The Marina of Mexico provided the medical evacuation of a cruise ship passenger Wednesday. The elderly woman was evacuated from the ship after suffering a likely stroke.
In a statement, the Secretariat of the Navy said they carried out the medical evacuation of a female from on board a cruise ship approximately five nautical miles (nine kilometers) northeast of Isla Mujeres.
“This action was carried out after receiving an emergency call in the Command and Control Room in which support was requested for the transfer of a 75-year-old female who had a cerebrovascular event (CVA).”
The ship was met by Mexican Navy officials who transferred the patient onto their vessel for fast transport to a waiting ambulance at Puerto Juárez, from where she was taken by land to a Cancun hospital.
