Chetumal, Q.R. — A young driver managed to walk away from an accident after crushing the front of his car into a concrete pole Sunday.
The accident happened just before 5:00 a.m. in the central colony of the state capital of Chetumal when the driver, identified as Germán M, lost control and crashed into the central ridge. The impact caused him to cross lanes and hit a concrete CFE pole, which he completely severed at the base.
The car in which he was driving smashed into the pole, pushing the front end of his grey compact car into a V-shape. Luckily, he was able to walk away from the heap of crumpled metal. Preliminary reports say Germán M was driving at excessive speed when the accident happened. He was arrested. Damage has been estimated at around half-a-million peso.
