Island extortionist picked up on drug charges

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An alleged island extortionist identified as David “N” has been picked up on drug charges. On Monday, local authorities announced the arrest of a man known for extorting Isla Mujeres and Cancun businesses.

In a statement, the State Attorney General’s Office said that David “N” was arrested in flagrante delicto for drug dealing. However, he is also identified as one of the main extortionists of establishments in Isla Blanca in the municipality of Isla Mujeres, as well as in Cancun.

Elements of the Investigative Police in coordination with elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security detained David “N”, who at the time of his capture was in possession of various narcotics.

The state agency reported that according to their first investigations, “David “N” could be one of the generators of violence in Cancun and it was established that the accused and another subject – who is already wanted – are probably related to the crimes of extortion and drug dealing in the areas from Isla Blanca and Benito Juárez (Cancun).

After his capture, in the streets of Supermanzana 212, David “N” was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
