Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A man was rushed to a Cancun hospital early Sunday morning after falling from an Isla Mujeres island cliff. The man, reported to be a tourist staying at an island hotel, was transferred by Marina personnel to the mainland after falling from a cliff and becoming wedged in the rocks below.
The accident happened after midnight Sunday. Paramedics attending the scene found the man with polytrauma, multiple contusions and head trauma. According to available information, the man fell several meters to the rocks below where he became stuck.
Medical staff from the hospital requested the assistance of Marina Rescue to transfer him to the mainland where he was taken by a waiting ambulance to Cancun.
After the medical request by the hotel, a defender-type vessel from ENSAR Isla Mujeres set sail with specialized personnel on board to transport the injured tourist to the Advanced Naval Station (ENA) in Puerto Juárez. From there, he was met by a waiting ambulance and transferred to a Cancun hospital for care.
