Isla Mujeres restaurant shut for municipal violation

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — An island restaurant as been shut by municipal authorities after they were found violating health protocols. In a joint operation between Fiscalización de Isla Mujeres and la Secretaría de Finanzas y Planeación del gobierno del Estado (Sefiplan), authorities proceeded to shut a restaurant located in the first square of the island for not closing on schedule.

The director of Fiscalization in the municipality, Helman Ulises Berman Graniel, explained that these types of inspections will continue with the firm commitment to ensure the health of island families due to the current health situation, in addition to ensuring the gradual economic recovery is being carried out in an orderly and responsible manner.

“We are not going to allow the health of our families and visitors to be jeopardized. They have to comply with sanitary measures and the proper documentation of their businesses. These operations will continue so that the businesses that are already working comply with 30 percent of their allowed capacity as well as with the use of face masks, mouth guards and antibacterial gel, as a containment measure for Covid-19,” said the official.

The restaurant was closed as a result of the verification operation being carried out by municipal authorities to ensure businesses comply with the New Normal due to Covid-19.
