Isla Mujeres police arrest three for beach rape

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Three men have been taken into custody on outstanding warrants for their involvement in a July 11 rape. Bernabé Caín “N”, Ulises “N” and Guadalupe Rodrigo “N” are being held on charges on allegations of rape against a teen.

On Tuesday, the State Attorney General (FGE) said in a statement that the three men were arrested “for their probable participation in events that could constitute the crime of rape against an adolescent victim.

“The State Attorney General’s Office executed an arrest warrant against three male persons, detained by the Municipal Police in the continental area of Isla Mujeres. The detainees are Bernabé Caín “N”, Ulises “N” and Guadalupe Rodrigo “N”. The events for which they were charged occurred on July 11, 2024.”

The Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) went on to explain that “initial investigations indicate that the victim was on the beach with her boyfriend when a man approached and threatened them. Later, another man arrived, taking the young woman’s boyfriend away to allegedly commit the crime of rape against the teenager.

“After that, a third man arrived, who possibly also participated in the act. Following the complaint filed with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Sexual Crimes and the Free Development of Personality, this Social Representation opened an investigation for which it requested and was granted an arrest warrant against the three subjects.”
