Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A woman who was involved in an island motorcycle accident over the weekend has been transferred to Cancun hospital with severe head trauma. The unnamed woman was a passenger on a motorcycle that was involved in a collision on the night of September 15.
The woman who, along with three other people, were part of the 10:30 p.m. accident involving two motorcycles. She suffered severe head trauma and had to be transferred on a Navy vessel by personnel from the Ninth Naval Region to Puerto Juárez where an ambulance was waiting.
Marítima (ENSAR) provided support to the Isla Mujeres Community Hospital after receiving an emergency call requesting support for the urgent transfer of a female person who suffered serious head trauma as a result of the collision of the two motorcycles, they reported.
All four involved in the Friday night accident were transferred to the island hospital, however, after an evaluation, the hospital’s emergency personnel confirmed the seriousness of the woman’s injuries and requested Navy support.
The woman was transferred onto a Navy vessel and transferred to the mainland where a waiting ambulance took her to Cancun for specialized treatment.
