Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A project to repave and improve the main tourist veins of the island is underway. On Wednesday, Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde reported on the revamping of Colonio Centro.
She said the lifting of the old stones is part of the maintenance being carried out which, when finished, will include better lighting and improved mobility for the disabled.
“The work of maintenance and beautification continues of the urban infrastructure of Colonio Centro as part of a comprehensive project implemented by the municipal government in which different streets on the island of this iconic place are being revamped,” she said.
These projects are essential for the quality of life of the inhabitants of Isla Mujeres and the tourists who visit, she added. Ricalde said that in addition to road maintenance, not only are old stones being replaced, but the project also includes lighting and adaptation for the disabled with accessible spaces.
