Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Nearly two hundred boats used for tourism are being evicted from Puerto Juárez. Owners of the private boats docked at the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) pier have been given notice they need to move.
The pier is part of the Integral Port Administration (Apiqroo) that the boat owners have used for years, not only to dock their boats, but also from where they leave for Isla Mujeres tours.
The boat owners have been given notice by Sedena to vacate the area because they want to use that space for the military detachment based out of Cancun.
Commander of the 34th Military Zone, Fidel Mondragón Rivero, gave the Isla Mujeres boat owners notice they need to vacate. There are 170 boats currently using the dock to operate tourist services from the mainland of Isla Mujeres to the island.

There is no word on how long the boat owners have to move. The area of the pier will be converted into a park and used by the nearby military housing base.
