Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde says the signal has been given for the rehabilitation of the intermunicipal highway to Punta Sam. On Tuesday, Ricalde said 1,200 meters of road will be leveled and resurfaced.
The project will see the road paved from the under-construction police booth near Costa Maya to the Punta Sam roundabout. The road is being rehabilitated since it is a highly traveled Costa Mujeres road.
Mayor Ricalde says the project will be of great benefit to those who live in the Playa Mujeres and Costa Mujeres areas as well as to the families who cross to the island using the Punta Sam ferry.
Ricalde says the four lanes of work will be done without interruptions and will include relevelling of the bearing surface, application of asphalt seal and more signage.
The rehabilitation project is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.
