Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Isla Mujeres Civil Protection assisted in the removal of a boa from inside an apartment building Saturday. A resident who had just left his apartment spotted the snake in the building’s hallway, but not before mistaking it for a stick.
The young tenant told Civil Protection he first thought it was a stick until it moved. He said he was walking toward the stick when it began to slither in the opposite direction, which is when he called authorities for help.
The incident was reported inside an apartment complex on the island’s Meteorológico neighborhood early Saturday morning. Civil Protection responded to the report of the wandering reptile, which they said, was around one meter long.

The slithering boa was successfully captured still inside the building’s hallway and relocated on the island.
