Isla Mujeres anticipating 95 percent sell out for summer holidays

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The municipality of Isla Mujeres is anticipating a 95 percent hotel occupancy rate for July and August. On Wednesday, Isla Mujeres Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde announced the busy, near sold-out figures.

She said that for the remainder of July and the month of August, an average occupancy rate of almost 95 percent is estimated throughout the municipality.

The Mayor specified that in recent months, Isla Mujeres has reported very positive occupation rates reaching 86.2 percent, a figure that is expected to increase with the summer holiday season.

Gómez Ricalde says the municipality has 91 hotels with a combined total of 12,355 rooms. Of those 91 hotels, 17 are on the Continental Zone (Costa Mujeres) mainland and 74 on the island. She reported that Isla Mujeres has seen an addition of 3,000 hotel rooms in the past year.

She reported that with a 95 percent hotel occupancy rate, it will position the municipality as the busiest in the state.
