Chetumal, Q.R. — Combi rates in the city of Chetumal have officially increased. Passengers are now being charged 8 peso for a ride. The small one peso price hike was approved by Mobility authorities earlier this month.
Rodrigo Alcázar Urrutia who heads the Quintana Roo Mobility Institute (Imoveqroo), announced the official increase for the city of Chetumal. He reported that Chetumal combis have not increased their rates since 2019, and that with this rate increase, the price has gone from 7 to 8 pesos.
He justified that the one peso increase was approved after a study to determine what the ideal rate for Chetumal should be, taking into account data such as “operating costs per route, per kilometer and per user, among others.”
“This authority, in order for the concessionaire to receive a profit in the provision of the service, has determined to make an increase in the rate,” he said.
