As a result of intelligence work and coordinated actions with members of the Interinstitutional Group, Ernesto Guadalupe “N”, alias “El Rayo”, identified as the alleged operational leader of the CJNG in the municipality of Playa del Carmen, was captured.

The arrest, carried out by Investigation Police assigned to the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office with support from members of the Defense, Navy, National Guard, Secretariat of Citizen Security and Municipal Police, took place on Tulum Avenue on the corner of Agua Street in SM 4 of central Cancun.

After a voluntary inspection of his person and the Chevrolet Captiva vehicle in which he was traveling, agents secured an arsenal consisting of 11 firearms for the exclusive use of the Army, Navy and Air Force (Mexican military).
