Head of Isla Mujeres taxi union shot to death in Cancun

Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — The head of the Isla Mujeres Taxi Union was shot to death Friday morning inside his private vehicle. Preliminary information says armed men approached his vehicle before opening fire against him on a Cancun street.

He was shot numerous times through his driver’s side window before his attackers fled the scene. The deceased has been identified as Aerial “P”, head of the Sindicato de Choferes Propietarios de Automóviles y Similares of Isla Mujeres.

He was found shot to death behind the wheel of his car shortly after 10:00 a.m. Friday in the municipality of Benito Juarez. He was parked outside his home when the shooting took place.

The Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office made reference to the shooting via a Twitter post, only saying that they have begun an investigation. No other information surrounding the Friday morning broad daylight shooting has been revealed.
