Cancun, Q.R. — City officials sent to evict a group of invaders from Cancun land were blocked from entering the property. On Thursday, police were sent to the Arco Vial area of Cancun to escort city officials where they were to remove a group of people who illegally settled there.
However, upon their arrival, the group refused to allow them access to the land. The land, which is an 8-hectare parcel in Region 247, has been earmarked to become a graveyard.
Before leaving the area, authorities posted large signs prohibiting passage. The group, which consists of around 500 people, began settling last year. They are one of two new known invasion groups who have illegally settled on private land.
